Amy did her speech, but at the time when Winter foolishly snapped toward the silver dragon's neck, the other dragon threw back her head and roared. The sound clamored uncomfortably around Amy and Winter's brains and the two were slightly shaken and shocked by the sudden display. Winter recoiled at the roar and hovered slightly backwards from the enemy. Amy finished her speech and sat back down on Winter's back, readying herself for battle.
It turned out that the silver female had the first move. She swooped high above their heads and dove toward them. Amy readied her sword, assuming that they would just fly past them and the Rider would hit her with her sword. All the while the enemy dragon snarled taunts and curses at Winter. Winter responded as coldly, You're the traitor! Don't you see what will happen to Alagaƫsia under the Varden's reign? All Galbatorix wants is to unite the Riders. Is that so wrong? Men are so obtuse that we should reign them. Wouldn't that be better than all this war?[/i] That was the last thing she said before the bright, silver wings fanned out before her and the other dragon smashed into her.
Amy was so shocked by the sudden impact that she nearly lost her balance and tumbled from Winter's back for the third time that day. Winter immediately started bashing her fore claws into the dragon's flank and belly and pummeling her mercilessly with her hind legs. She roared in frustration as she struggled to gain control and to protect Amy at the same time. Both pairs started dropping to the ground below like a stone falling into water. Amy grit her teeth against the whipping wind as they plummeted earthwards.[/size]
